Extreme Networks: The New England Patriots Lead NFL Organizations In Stadium Wi-Fi Innovation

Wireless provider Extreme Networks has built an NFL stadium empire, providing Wi-Fi solutions in 10 NFL stadiums across the country. Chairman, President and CEO Edward Meyercord told CRNtv that the stadium Wi-Fi business started in New England at the Patriots’ Gillette Stadium.

’With the Patriots, it became the beginning of a long run. We became the exclusive provider for the NFL, not only for Wi-Fi, but for analytics software, and then it expanded to other teams,’ Meyercord said.

Eight other NFL teams also deploy Extreme Networks’ analytics solutions.

With the at-home experience dramatically improving over the past several years, Extreme Networks has worked diligently with the Kraft family to improve the technical side of the in-stadium experience for fans.

’The Kraft family and the Patriots have done a great job. They’re leading the league in investing in Wi-Fi. They’re very focused on fan experience, and they want to bring high-quality Wi-Fi to their fans,’ Meyercord said.

That translates to giving fans access to NFL Redzone at the game, so that they can stay in the loop with other NFL games at the same time. Extreme Networks also ensures that fans can use the Patriots' official mobile app, and that fans in the nosebleed sections of stadiums can see all the different angles they might if they watched the game at home.
